  • Benefits Season has arrived! This is the busiest time of year at the clinic, as many of you are utilizing the last of your insurance benefits for the year. With this in mind, please book ahead, as many practitioners are booking several weeks in advance.
  • Registered Massage Therapist Leah Mayer has joined the Arbutus team and is available Wednesday, Friday & Saturdays! Book directly with Leah here
  • Community Acupuncture has resumed at the Community Hall for the Fall season. This busy program fills quickly so be sure to book online in advance.
  • Naturopath Dr. Claire Wilson has her schedule online through December, including Telehealth online appointments. To book a Telehealth appointment be sure to select ‘online appointments’ in order to view online availability.
  • Celluma LED is available to be added onto any of your Acupuncture & TCM treatments - just ask!

Acupuncture is a gentle and effective method of stimulating the body to heal itself. Our health depends on the balanced functioning of our body’s Qi (vital energy). When we are in optimum health, our Qi, or life force, flows harmoniously through our body along a system of pathways called meridians. Illness arises when the flow of energy becomes disturbed in one or more meridian and manifests in a diverse array of symptoms. Acupuncturists focus on creating a smooth flow of Qi through the body by inserting thin needles into specific points on a meridian called acupoints. In this way, imbalances or obstructions of energy in the meridians are corrected and associated symptoms are resolved.

Leah has been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2019, starting her career in Greater Vancouver, then moving to Tofino in 2021.

Working with patients of all variety, Leah brings a studied-yet-open, discerning-yet-curious approach to assisting the tissues of the body in relaxation and rejuvenation.

Robyn K. Sorge
(She/Her/Hers) R.Ac

Originally from Alberta, Robyn began her study of eastern philosophy while pursuing a combined degree in Religious Studies and Psychology at the University of Lethbridge. Her interest deepened when she was given the opportunity to study under Dr. Wendy Takeda, who became and continues to be her inspiring mentor.

Relocating to Vancouver Island, Robyn completed a four year program at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM), earning her a Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Upon completion of her studies, Robyn moved further up the westcoast to Tofino where she founded Arbutus Health Centre. As a practitioner, Robyn brings close to 20 years of clinical experience and treats patients with wide ranging concerns such as musculoskeletal injuries, digestive complaints, psycho-emotional disorders, neurological issues, addictions, and dermatological concerns. Robyn is a certified NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) practitioner and has also studied under Virginia Doran, leading expert on Facial Rejuvenation, otherwise known as cosmetic acupuncture.

In addition, Robyn has special interest and extensive postgraduate training in women’s reproductive health, fertility, and gynocology. She has studied under notable TCM experts such as Raven Lang, Debra Betts, Bob Flaws, Jean Levesque, and Heather Bruce.

Robyn’s philosophical approach to treatment includes a strong emphasis on patient participation and education. She encourages patients to take responsibility for their health and to actively participate in the healing process. Robyn often incorporates dietary therapy, lifestyle changes and herbal medicine into her treatment plans. Comfortable within both Western and Eastern medical paradigms, Robyn works with her patients to formulate individualized treatment plans that supports the patient on their journey toward health and inspired living.

Dr. Claire Wilson ND

Dr. Claire Wilson is a board certified Naturopathic Physician providing primary care to families and individuals of all ages. Although maintaining a general practice, Dr. Wilson has a specific interest in injury recovery, women’s health, hormone evaluation, and pain management. She has completed extensive training in BHRT, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and injection therapies such as prolotherapy, PRP, hyaluronic acid, steroid, trigger point therapy & neural therapy.

Dr. Wilson is a graduate of UBC & The Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in British Columbia. She maintains additional certifications in IV therapy, acupuncture, prescriptive authority, regenerative injection techniques, and ozone therapy.

Dr. Wilson is dedicated to practicing from a patient-centered philosophy. This entails individualized care, evidence-based therapeutics, and consistent patient education. Francesca Mason M.Ost

Francesca is a UK trained osteopathic practitioner, graduating from the British School of Osteopathy in 2015. Since then she has had the pleasure of working in a variety of general and specialist clinics across the world including performing arts clinics in London, general clinics in Sydney and snow sports clinics in France & Japan. Thanks to this Francesca is comfortable working with a wide range of ailments such as back pain, sporting injuries, chronic postural issues and jaw pain to name a few.

Francesca describes herself as a structural practitioner with a gentle yet direct approach, incorporating visceral and functional techniques as well as lifestyle advice to provide each patient with a personalised and effective treatment.
